Magued Osman, an expert in social statistics and public opinion research, is the founder and CEO of the Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research, Baseera. Baseera was established in April 2012, as the first independent public opinion polling center in Egypt.

Osman acted as the chairman of the Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center from January 2005 to February 2011 when he was appointed minister of communications and information technology in the post-revolution caretaker government.

Osman is a professor at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science of Cairo University, and a member of the National Council for Woman. He is also the chairman of Telecom Egypt, member of the Board of Directors of the National Planning Institute, and vice chairman of the Arab Union for Statisticians.

Osman provided short-term consultancy to several regional and international organizations including The European Union, UN ESCWA, UN HABITAT, UN Women, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, USAID, and WORLD BANK.
He led several national surveys activities in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and UAE and designed and supervised many public opinion polls in the Arab region. He initiated the first series of president approval rating in Egypt and conducted the first exit poll in Egypt.

He participated in the formulation of the vision for Egypt 2030, the Women Empowerment and Gender Equality Strategy for Egypt 2016-2030, the national strategy for population and led the establishment of the Egypt Women Observatory.
